About Us

THE SOROPTIMIST ORGANIZATION

Soroptimist is an international organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. Almost 95,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community–based and international projects that benefit women and girls.  Soroptimist International (SI) is made up of four federations, including Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA).  SIA is composed of 29 regions, including the Golden West Region.

The name, Soroptimist, means "best for women," and that's what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best.   In 1927, SIA adopted as its creed this pledge that simply states the ideals of the federation:

I pledge allegiance to Soroptimism
And to the ideals for which it stands:
The sincerity of friendship,
The joy of achievement,
The dignity of service,
The love of country.
I will put forth my greatest effort to
Promote, uphold and defend these ideals
For a larger fellowship
In home, in society, in business, for country, and for God.

OUR CLUB

Soroptimist International of the Kachinas was established in the spring of 1980 by a group of committed women in the West Valley of the Phoenix metro area.  Our Soroptimist International charter was granted on May 10, 1980, and several of the charter members are still active today.

Since the club's inception, SI Kachinas has been devoted to working on projects in the West Valley dedicated to helping women and girls.  We were a key player in forming the West Valley Child Crisis Center in the 1980s.  Today, we support the work of Arizonans for the Protection of Exploited Children and Adults (APECA) and their shelter known as Natalie's House for girls escaping sexual exploitation and abuse. We are also passionate about providing information to educate teen girls and their parents about the dangers of sexting, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking.

SI Kachinas host several bunco fund raising events every year at Landscape Mart in Peoria.  Each bunco event includes dinner, beverages, door prizes, and, of course, bunco! Please see our Calendar of Events to see when our next bunco is scheduled.

We hope you will join us in raising money to support West Valley charities.
